CAHSLA was officially formed on September 20, 1973.

Original officers: Janice Schneider, Chair, Don Smith, Vice-Chair, Ann Feduff, Secretary, and Frances McCullough, Treasurer.

Chronicle, the CAHSLA newsletter, debuted in 1977.

In the fall of 1983, CAHSLA hosted the Annual Meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association in Cincinnati, OH.

The first CAHSLA holiday book drive was in 1996 and has been held annually since.  The recipients have been local organizations serving children in some capacity.

On September 23-26, 2000, CAHSLA hosted the Annual Meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association in Cincinnati, OH.

The CAHSLA web page went live in October of 2001.
